There, in the local museum, the series of commemorative events for the German wars of 1866 was ceremonially launched. Similarly to the preparation of the commemorative events of the Battle of Hradec Králové, here too the working group has for two years been preparing events that will commemorate the war events of 1866 in various places in Germany from March to July 2016.
Let us recall that the War of 1866 affected a large part of Europe. In the south Austria faced Italy. Other battlefields of the war could be found, for example, near Langensalza in Hanover, but also in Bavaria, Thuringia and elsewhere, for for the as yet ununified Germany it was in a sense a civil war.
The main theatre of the war, however, became the area of northern and eastern Bohemia with the decisive battle at Hradec Králové.
It is encouraging that the commemorative events of the Battle of Hradec Králové have been included in the main brochure of the Der Bruderkrieg 1866 project.
