This year's commemorative events have been accepted by the general's namesake descendant, Mr Constantin von Alvensleben. He will take part in the main official parts of the programme, where he will honour the memory of all those who fell in the battle and visit the memorial places where members of his family died and where his forefather achieved his famous victory.
Project Königgrätz 1866
The commemorative events project is an international gathering of military history clubs; ceremonial parades, concerts of historical bands, cultural programmes and interactive expert demonstration events with performers in historical uniforms and costumes are held. On the Chlum 1866 battlefield there will again be reconstructions of battle events in authentic places of fighting with professional dramaturgy
and commentary. Visitors will see a period field camp, demonstrations of cavalry clashes, infantry bayonet attacks, artillery and rich pyrotechnic effects.
Visitors can once again look forward to the scenery of a large period building, which will be destroyed during the battle demonstration by artillery fire and pyrotechnic effects.
